The APPG on Poverty is delighted to host Helen Rowe, author of Eliminating Poverty in Britain at our next official online meeting on Tuesday 27 February at 10.30am.

Helen will speak to several sections of her book and will explore the intersection between biology, poverty and politics and will highlight the latest scientific discoveries on the topic.
She will then move onto how we can realistically eliminate poverty altogether and how a poverty elimination programme could be funded.

Our Co-Chairs David Linden MP and Baroness Lister will then open up the discussion and there will also be time for audience members to ask Helen any questions about the book and issues relating to poverty.

Make sure to sign-up for a ticket below and we hope to see you online on the 27th February.

This event will be held online via Zoom.

About the book

Eliminating Poverty in Britain is a deep dive into the effects of poverty on British society, families and individuals, and offers a detailed and realistic plan on how to end it in five years, without raising taxes.

The book draws on scientific analysis and the latest social research from around the world to detail how poverty affects the economy, the green agenda, communities, relationships and a person’s mental and physical health – down to their very DNA.

It also considers the expected and unexpected consequences of success, both at home and around the world, and questions what Britons are missing out on while inequality remains.
After the pandemic, Brexit, war, austerity and the global financial crash, the public wants a more positive future.

The question is: How do we create it?
